Captain Marketing

Well, I finally cancelled my service with Captain Marketing. They do not do what they agree to do, are very difficult to get a response from and will not...WILL NOT...let you out of the 30 day cancellation agreement. No matter that they do not perform as they agree to, YOU WILL PAY. I am glad to be done with them. Paying $299.00 per month is such a scam now that I found out I can host my own site with Go Daddy for waaayyyy less money and heartache. So...do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

I used Captain Marketing for about a year and a half just to have an
external company keep up with all the google changes so that I can focus
on other business projects. Prior to Captain Marketing we ranked on
page 1 for many of our keywords (~40) and the critical ones were in
position 1-3. As of October 5, 2013 our rankings began to drop and now
none of our keywords rank in the organic search. I am now spending
about 5k a month on PPC and $2,400 on an seo company to fix the issues
created by Captain Marketing. I am doing this to keep from having to
layoff staff. Prior to the drop we spent about 800 a month on PPC and
about 1200 on SEO. During this time I discovered that Captain
Marketing was using link farms in a high number of cases. In one case I
found a place where they created over 300 links. Here are a few sample
link exchange sites all with the same template:

Using a 3rd party tool I found that over 67% of our links they created
were classified as toxic and 32% were suspicious. Prior to hiring them
I probably had a few hundred manually created links and now I have to
spend extra just to clean up the mess they created.



I know they are cheap and they tell you everything you want to hear but please BUYER BEWARE!!

I hired captain marketing for positioning our website, but they failed
miserably, and didn`t even answer my emails at the end. The guarantee
they offer is a scam, and I`m starting a legal process against this
company. Hire captain marketing at your own risk, but be sure that you
can find other companies offering better services at better prices.

I went from being on the first page on google to not being listed at all. They have used link farms and now I have to try to undo all the poor links that are in place. Take it from me - stay away.

I worked here a little over a year and had to quit because of how shady they are to there clients and employees. The owner Bruce is nothing but a small business crushing savage that will just drain your bank account and leave you to die. I know this first hand because I've seen him do it. He has over 125 people doing sales and only 25 people doing operations which I'm sure people who have used them in the past will tell you they get no customer service and that is the reason why! They even have a department just for refunds because of how many customers see no results and no service that are promised at the beginning. Well let me just state that they will ruin your company. I PROMOSE YOU THEY WILL. They use free links for the SEO and charge you $299 a month. BUYER BEWARE!

Honestly, we have a strong relationship. I have been very satisfied with the service, that is why we have stayed on for so long. When I started in 2012 we were virtually invisible online. I wont say we haven't had our bumps, specifically last fall, but they have made amends and we are back on track. I really like that they really take responsibility for the account and where it leads. They show ownership and that is very important to me having a 3rd party manage my online marketing. I think it should be important to all business owners.

They created a Facebook page for my company that looks really professional and gave me the on-line credibility that I needed to interact with customers and friends.  The Social Media Manager, Shay is real creative, has unique ideas and is fun to work with as well. His team is highly talented as well! I highly recommend Captain Marketing for any on-line exposure that your company absolutely needs to compete in the 21st Century! 

I got a call from the sales rep and bought into all that was promised. Two days later I found these horrible reviews and i called to get a refund. I was scared, I cant afford to throw away money. However, I spoke to Matt who is handling my account personally and he explained everything they were working on. I was pleasantly surprised to see all the work they had done already. I have decided to give them a try and I am 2 weeks in. I will post an update soon but for now, Matt really deserves a 5 star rating he is really helpful and patient. 

This review/report is only in reference to their web development dept. I was scrolling through and saw a few negative reports in regards to their marking services. (I don't know if i'll try that, but I'm happy with their work done.)

I bought the domain about 2 months ago, had Captain Marketing begin work about a month and a half ago and it's nearly done. Just reviewed the mock up and it only needs a couple tweaks. I am very impressed with the amount of time it took them to get it done and I would recommend them to anyone looking to get a nice, modern and beautiful site done.  

Simply put, it's hard to find a company that doesn't charge you an arm and a leg for online marketing. The internet rules everything now and you have to jump on board or your business gets left behind. I am so happy I came across this company. They have done so much to help improve my Google rankings and my keywords are doing so good. I think like all things and businesses not everything is for everyone. I see some really bad reports on here, & I think some of it can be true but just the same I would like to voice my experience. Still going good and is getting better. No complaints here. 

They promised not to use bad linking such as black hat and link farms they did and took google rankings and sent them into the toilet. Loosing 10K per month due to these bad linking tactics. Contact me for more info johnnazzaro.com. Stay away.

In all honesty... who likes cold calls??! NOT I, not anyone I know actually. This was a red flag to me and truly made me feel as if Captain Marketing could be a scam. I mean come on.. a marketing company?! I gave in after a few calls because of the knowledge I was bombarded with. I swear every time a new representative would call as if I hadn't heard it before, but what got me was that they all knew what they were talking about. Like they seriously knew, the calls never sounded scripted! Flash forward 12 months and my site is doing better than ever. I am finally posting on here as just yesterday I had my annual review with my project manager and I am just so impressed with the change and growth of my site and traffic. My rankings are great, they're generic and with huge competition and even with that I have 10 Keywords on the 1st page and the rest not far behind. What I am most happy about is the knowledge I now have regarding online marketing, I feel as if I ever needed to go else where I would now know what to look for. (Not that I would leave Captain Marketing with all they've done for me.)

Captain Marketing has helped reestablish our website's online presence dramatically!  I have a medical office and the competition online is huge!! They helped us rewrite our homepage content and have our site truly reflect our values and office image.
 
We are a small office with a small staff and I have a million things on my plate, I really rely on my marketing team for the best advice to make sure our business grows and heads in the right direction. I am so thankful to Captain Marketing for their ongoing efforts to ensure we get the best online marketing experience and knowledge!

Captain Marketing is a very good company to work with. They helped design and create the website for our law firm. They communicate with you throughout the entire process and make sure your needs are met. I would definitely recommend using them for all your website managing and maintenance needs. As well I have opted to continue using their services now to market our site online via Google's search engine. We are excited to see where this company can lead our business.

I found this site after we'd already signed up, and to be honest, I might not have if I had read some of these horrible reviews.

Luckily, our experience has been entirely positive. Our project manager, Joe, is friendly and answered all my questions, returned emails promptly and even explained SEO to my wife on the phone one afternoon. No small thing, that.

We're now on page one six months after we started for the 4 keywords I really needed. We have a social media campaign and I'm very happy with it so far (started 4 weeks ago with Pinterest and FB).

I have been working with Captain Marketing for about 5 months now and the results are amazing.
Honestly I was skeptical at first being that they cold called me. They first month I don't remember seeing very much change. My project manager left and i got even more skeptical about the company. However, Karen, My current project manager called and explained that the previous rep working on my account was no longer employed there and that she would take over my account. She was very nice and patient, she explained what was going on with my account and what she thought we should focus on. I have nothing to say but that she is such a professional and my online marketing campaign has never been better. This review is solely based on her performance over my account. (I only give it 4 stars due to my previous rep. but that may change if I continue to see progress.) Hope this helps.

This company is too much, they assume consumers are really stupid to believe an attempt at salvaging a decent online reputation by posting clearly fake reviews. Five 4 - 5 star rated reviews in one day on this website alone! It is hard to believe that companies and websites will post obviously fake submissions. It is pretty clear, every review prior to March 20th, as well as every Yelp review ending in February and going back as far as you can go, including unrecommended reviews in Yelp, carry the same message. This company treats it's clients like dirt.

I have been with Captain for 3 years now. Before I started, my business had no social media presence, and I had no visitors to my site. When Captain called me, They made my facebook, g+ and twitter. I now have over 2,000 likes and follows on all 3 social media mediums. Also, my business has increased 30% since they came on. I tried the SEO side, and it worked for me, but Social Media DEFINITELY helped a lot. I had customers come in and say that they are there because of my facebook page. I would recommend this company to any start-up business or online retailer. A few of my friends have recently done this as well and had great results.

This is now my 8th month with Captain Marketing. With my business being somewhat new- there is always (an ever growing) laundry list of tasks for me each day. It was impossible for me to properly run my company while actively growing and maintaining an online presence at the same time.

Growth along with outreach to my customer base is always on my mind. Captain Marketing allowed me to focus on my BUSINESS while they increased our online exposure and brought new clients to our door.

We are currently have their SEO package along with Facebook, Google+, and Pinterest. They assign you a personal Project Manager so you can easily reach out with any questions you have.

With their help, our business is now full circle and we are reaching heights we had only hoped, so I gladly give them 5 stars.

I have been with Captain Marketing for over 5 months now. I purchased the SEO package + the FB, Twitter and Google+. Recently, I added also a Pinterest package. As you can see, I went all out in hopes to turn my new company into a true success... And it worked! Captain Marketing has found a way to place me on page 1 of google for about 60% of my keywords and the remaining keywords are on the way there! Also, the Pinterest, which I have only been using for a month, has sent 400 unique visitors to my site in 30 days!! Unbelievable. 5 stars guaranteed. I am so glad I signed up with Captain Marketing.

We began with Captain Marketing when my brother recommended them-they'd built him a website and done SEO for his home waterproofing company. He had a great experience with them, and still has them run his PPC. Anyway, we run a small vitamin company and needed both SEO help and someone to manage our Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Frankly, the project manager didn't really focus too much on our links-he got us some homepage content with some copywriter named Sarah, and we liked it so much we're doing blogs with this person now too. We also were told to fix our faulty navigation on our homepage (did not do this through their company, but fixed it) and they told us it would take about 6 months. Nothing happened for the first 2, and I was very concerned. After 3, we started moving, and now we're on page one for most of the important keywords. I can't help but think the social media stuff they're doing is also helping-we get a lot of carry over from our Facebook onto our website.

I think a lot of people are really confused by search engine marketing. We were. I like these guys (except for their copywriter, they all seem to be men who answer the phone) and I feel like they're hungry to do a good job. We are very pleased.

Captain Marketing has helped our web presence tremendously. Our rankings up, even after the Google update. The customer service is great and it's easy to check our rankings during the month. I would highly recommend Captain Marketing to any company.

I agree with everyone who has listed that they destroyed my web presence. I now have unrelevant links all the place and have been punished by google. Stay away. They also charged me for months of service that they never provided on other fronts.

If you are interested in totally ruining your online business you need
to do business with Captain Marketing. We were an established niche
online retailer who used Captain Marketing for about 7 months. We went
from a page rank of 3 to being removed from Googles organic search
results as a result of a “manual action” due to “unnatural inbound
links”. If you are unfamiliar with a Google “manual action” as I was,
you need to check it out. Captain Marketing uses black hat link building
methods and Google will punish you for it. It will take years to fix
the damage that Captain Marketing has done to our online reputation with
Google and it is unlikely we will but around to see it. Beware initial
results might appear positive but its only a matter of time before
Google determines that the SEO that Captain Marketing has done to your
site is link farming and it will cost you much more that what you give
to Captain Marketing.

Don't waste your money, they say they are doing work on your social media and links. They didn't even have my login for my company social media sites. Then they tell me social media is new for them and they will call me back to fix it. No call back, No Additional Links, No Social Media Posts, Just take my money every month.

Do not use this company! They're frequently sending me unsolicited email and call me from 818-691-1921 daily.

These vultures lure poor students, who are looking for internships, into telemarketing- NOT ONLINE MARKETING as they pitch to them. Their recruiting manager sells you a dream and even they don't even know what they're talking about.
This internship is just a scam for cheap labor.

HANG UP IF THEY EVER CALL.

They use unsolicited SPAM e-mail to get business.
Need I say more?
If they use dishonest techniques to get your business, can you trust them?

The salesman was a bit aggresive but other than that CM has worked well for me. It wasn't immediate but my business has always been small amd family owned and we've actually expanded to a mid+sized 25 man fleet (hvac/air cond. biz)
The feeling I get from these few complaints are similar to pplwho try to get 10 bucks knocked off their bill at a cheap restaurant like Applebys or something by saying the server was rude or the fries were cold. I assume, likemost of us these days, people are watching every penny so stress amd paranoia ensues.
Be a little patient, teyre a busy company it seems but they do the job, even if it seems rocky at first.

I went from a front page listing to Oblivion ! Bad links galore. They were behind the curve technology wise when the new Google ranking parameters came out. They made no attempt to remove the bad links or refund money for months of stalling to cancel my monthly account.
I believe I spent an extra $1,200.00 because they would not cancel me...all the while my website ranking was plummeting.
Probably get my attorney after them, doesn't cost me anything since he is on retainer. this is negligence in my opinion... Getting paid... To do basically not do the right work...and just not caring.

JUST SAY NO to CAPTAIN MARKETING. find yourself a good local person who's work you can oversee !
