bad reviews are written by ex employeethe reason these reviews don't have a name is because they are written by a disgruntled former employee. I purchased a building from them a year ago and it has been great. I saw the bad reviews on here and they showed me the federal lawsuits where they had to sue the former Armstrong employee. Dont believe these. go to the BBB

$3,500 Deposit ripp off, scamWhen I quoted the building with them I asked at least twice them for a contractor contact because I want to find out the cost to build. I told them that I am building small garage to start auto repair business and I will need pluming, electricity, water in the building and I want contractor to do the work. They wouldn't give me a contact number and told me that Steve works with contractors and will tell me if it's in my budget, he gave me a ballpark price to build $25k, they told me that the way process works that they will give me a contractor contact after I give them a $3,500 deposit and its normal process. So after I gave them deposit they did give me the contractor contact number, but the quote I got from contractor to build was $74,700 + site work and + permits, so that it about $100k.
Now they wouldn't give me a deposit back and they are saying that the $25k ballpark number was just for concrete and erection of the building. I asked them for cost to build couple times and never asked for concrete and erection of the building. They mislead me, hide the total cost to build from me just to get the deposit from me and then I cannot get it back. I want my deposit back since its not in my budget to build and they mislead me. |

These reviews aren't helpfulThe reason the reviews aren't helpful is because they are anonymous. Most people who have nothing to hide - hide nothing including their reviews. I personally do not believe ANY anonymous reviews because if YOU can't or won't OWN your experience via YOUR WORD then you lack credibility and possibly integrity. I sincerely want to read reviews about General Steel Corporation but I have yet to find ONE with their name on it. Even the site by a former employee that has built a site to capture every negative thing about the company doesn't disclose his/her name nor do the complaints/reviews disclose their name/s. This isn't helpful for the critical thinker. It clearly feeds fuel to the folks that are looking for reasons to affirm or deny their original options.

Great serviceI've had nothing but good experiences with General Steel. Good people and straight forward pricing. They weren't the cheapest but you pay for what you get IMO.

They're defrauding their customersGeneral Steel Corporation took $10,000 from me on the express written condition that it deliver specific items to me, more particularly the complete list of parts to assemble a metal building built by the company. They failed to do so. I thought this would be a minor issue as these things do happen and honest people can make mistakes. Despite having written proof of this fact, I have been trying for over a month to get the company to do the right thing.
During period I have discover that there is actual company policy in place to promote the misrepresentation of the company's intentions and an active effort to defraud the public. I have heard one ridiculous lie after another. This goes all the way to the company president, and other members of the executive team that have proven to be cowardly to even do me the common courtesy of a return phone call. Every effort at resolution is blocked by some underlying, trained to lie and get off the phone as quickly as possible. The company has refused to lift a finger to correct their obvious mistake. I want what I paid for and I will not stop until I have it, or they will be out of business. |

It's been 7 years now and we still got nothingGeneral Steel Corporation (General Steel, The General, GeneralSteel, General Steel Corp.) is a shameless organization. It is so unbelievably fraudulent that there is a whole website online which is dedicated to their scams.
My company has purchased a steel building from them and paid the deposit of $35K. The whole deal was worth $60,000. General Steel Corp promised a lot but never fullfiled any promise. It took them around three months to just produce the blueprints which are required for the building to get approved by the city government. Now it has been 7 years since we got ourselves into this deal and not only we didn't get the steel building that they promised, but the total price has also increased from $60,000 to $110,000. This is just ridiculous! Moreover, turned out that these guys are nothing more than just a broker and they never mentioned this initially. They kept saying they are the manufactures which simply means that they lied. If we knew this from the beginning we wouldn't even signed the deal in the first place. The only thing we hope now is to get the money back. We already lost hope to get the building. I am really shocked that this company still operates and the government does nothing about it. If you ever stumble upon these guys - never deal with them! Don't believe anything they say - remember, the only thing they're good at is lying.
