Captain Marketing Complaints and Reviews

Paying the full price, 2 years down the line

Initially, all outward signs would indicate that Captain Marketing is a legit and professional business. They may well be legit but then they are certainly unprofessional. 2 years ago we launched a new site on our old domain that was not getting much traffic, so we signed up with CM for one of their SEO packages to try and boost our page rank.

All good on the phone and pretty friendly service, which delivered a weekly report with our rankings actually going slowly but surely up. What I did not know then (in my online ignorance) was that the bulk or their SEO was outsourced link building with the cheapest kind of link farms available.

I can't recall what we paid at the time, but it was certainly cheap compared to the cost of trying to remove over 900 crappy links or start all over again! So now only years later the full cost of the damage they did to our domain is clear - we are on the 9th page for an organic Google search for our rather specific search terms..

If you want SEO done right, there are no shortcuts, and I now believe there is no reason to even pay someone when you can manually, one by one add a link a month or week or whatever and simply make sure you have an interesting, relevant website that people would like to visit anyway. Other than that the ONLY way I know to drive leads to your site is with Pay Per Click (Adwords or other).

Good luck and forget about Captain Marketing!

So true

Captain marketing is a terrible company. Rip Off report is also a scam because they legitamize this company. Captain Marketing did nothing for us! A cold call company who then just ells you they are doing something for you!

Constantly calling/overcharged for services

They don't deserve one star. I would estimate that I was getting at least four or five calls from this company every single week. I finally did talk to someone and was very skeptical about doing that but regretfully I did. I told him I was just a one person company - an artist - and I really did not need to sell anything over the internet. He kept saying he could help me promote my art, he was an artist and understood how it was to try and promote your work. I told him over and over again I could not afford a lot of money on services and we agreed that I could get a free 30day trial period and I would pay $99 a month. The email from them to activate went way down in my junk email and I missed it for a couple of days due to a family emergency. Instead of the $99 per agreement they were charging me $245.00! They also say you have to give them a 30 day cancellation notice or they will charge you again. In other words when you sign up you have to cancel right then not to be charged. That is $300 more then I can afford and $399 more then I authorized. NEVER EVER DEAL WITH THEM. SO SORRY I DID and did not do my usual due diligence to check them out.

Do you want to pay for nothing?

I would recommend everyone to stay away from this company called Captain Marketing. They will give you fake leads that when you call the customer you will never reach him because the leads are unreal. They will take your money with no returns or profits. I used this company for a while and I got ripped off. Bruce Gordon from Captain Marketing will charge you $100 set up fee plus $ 9.75 for fake lead. Do you want to pay for nothing? They can give real address but the number will be fake of course. I called these numbers hundred times and no one ever picked up the tube and most of the numbers didn’t even exist. I couldn’t do something about it because company ask you to prove that the number was not working from the beginning and it is impossible. This company is a scam for the consumer and for the contractor. They ripped me off when they told me that they pre-screen the contractor but they have never did it. Stay away please. Thanks for reading and I hope this report will help you to make right choice.

service misrepresentation.

Captain Marketing is another dishonest company which doesn't provide their services as they advertise.
Captain Marketing states that their business is based on helping small and medium size companies to drive better leverage the Internet to their advantage. They also provide hosting abilities and analysing their customers websites using high quality technologies and methods. They also offer great customer service and customer care.
Well actually everything is not that good as they advertise. I used their services time ago and I had many problems with this company and the worst thing was that these people didn't want to stand on their promises and never wanted to be responsible for what they were doing, so trying to solve problems I met no cooperation from them.
First of all I used their hosting for my website and it was down without a reason. I contacted this company many times about this problem but it took more than two months to restore my website just because they didn't care of my request and I had to call them many times. Second thing is that I never received analyses from them as it was promised. And the same time they tried to bill me monthly without making any discounts for their really poor service.
Another problem was when I cancelled my contract with them. They didn't want to let me go and tried to overcharge for earlier cancellation but even this was unreasonable.
After such 'great' experience I will never recommend this company to anyone. All their business just sounds reliable but it is not. Beware and don't allow them to fool you!
