Automotive Rip off your customers training

They called me out of the blue. And told me that everything I was doing was wrong over the phone without even meeting me. This guy Jason said that as a business owner I shouldn't be working on cars. Well that is the whole reason I started my company, so I can do what I love and help people. I didn't do it to become rich, money is secondary. No one starts an automotive repair shop to become rich, if you do then you should not be working on cars you should be on Wall Street or pulling insurance scam somewhere.

They highly suggested I stop helping my clients personally, and just charge more. I have single mothers coming to me because they can't afford the dealership, ATI was trying to encourage me to become like the dealership with my prices.

The only person who gets rich in this situation is ATI, you will lose all your clients once you start marking your parts up 3 to 4 times. Dealer list is the highest anyone should sell a part for. If a customer can buy apart from the dealership for less than your Aftermarket part from the local parts store there is something very unethical about that situation.

Always remember that feeling you got when you first started working on cars and how grateful those customers were because you help them out. Making a dollar is not a crime, but ripping your customers off should be.

Don't give up your entire Saturday so they can tell you what you already know. Charge more + don't pay your employees too much = high profits.

There is no magic pill...

There is no magic pill, no miracle to make your business grow. But ATI is pretty close. There is significant information shared in the seminars-both from the instructors and other shop owners- and in the weekly coaching calls. The trick is, YOU have to put it to work for yourself and your shop. Sure it costs money, but to make it you do have to spend it. I have felt the change in my outlook on my business, and seen the effect in my business. A good one. No customers lost, reviews continue to be great, and we are on the move toward numbers that make sense.

crooks

My boss signed up a little over a year ago. We had to let our top A tech go. We couldn't afford him. Our car count has dropped. With high parts profits and hourly rates, we have driven our customers!ers away. The shop up the street has taken on our customers. Customers know when they are being taken advantage of. My lovelyhood depends on my bosses business decisions. And ATI is not a good one. Enjoy your class boss...

waste of time

Be careful, you do not neeeeeed them , I wasted my Saturday listening to them teaching us how to increase your gross profit , by increasing margin of profit on parts and labor . What ? Grade 1 knows that . All you need is a good review on the web which keep customers coming in , and know how to spend.( CASH+BANK+RECEIVABLES) - PAYABLES=$$$$ THAT YOU NEED TO SPEND FROM . so simple, you do not need to pay $1600 for someone to tell you how to sell a job and how to fire your service advisor if he does not do his job well, signing a contract with them for 30 or 48 month , in other word you just sold your business to them and you are working to buy it back .

STAY AWAY

JUST ALL AROUND -- BAD ADVISE..

What's next

This company is a joke. Yes, everyone would like to increase their profits, but there must be certain conditions for this. Their theory is to raise labor rates, increase part margins and gross profit. This is all good (especially for the owner), but what people dont realize is this drives your customers away. Think long and hard before you choose this company.

Employee victim

I worked for a small automotive repair shop that got involved with ATI. At first it sounded good. Then the owner went to a training class. When he came back the labor rate was raised almost 20 dollars an hour. Myself and one other were put on a variable pay scale, flat rate and commission. This was in a town of 500 people. Both of our pay was cut over hundred dollars a week. The owner ate 50 dollar steaks while our savings accounts were drained just to barely pay the bills. The one worker quit. I was dumb enough to stay because the owner and I had been friends way before he started his business. After a while of getting ripped off I had an attitude tword him. I was sick of it. I told other new workers what he had done to me and I was fired the next day. I got screwed over by ATI and lost a friend and lost lots of money. Beware of ATI. They ruin lives!

Incompetent training facility

I had the worst experience in my life connected with Automotive Training Institute. I would recommend everyone to stay away from this company. No one will get a profit from this company, just loss. Their training is just a joke as they don’t even have qualified lecturers. The training is poorly prepared and is overpriced for sure.
I have chosen this exactly company because they had really good website and there were just a few negative comments that looked like competitors reviews. However, I should have trusted these complaints as they were true. I think that many of other complaints were deleted by Automotive Training Institute themselves and others good reviews just posted by their staff. This place is full of lies and greedy people!
Knowing nothing about this company I signed up on them and it was the biggest mistake of my life. I have lost all my savings. I could have bought a new car or paid for the mortgage for two years in advance.
Automotive Training Institute just invested money in advertising and promotion, then hired some incompetent teachers, whom they pay small salary and actually they have only minimal expenses. But now they row money with a shovel.

They switched the contracts after we signed it!

They switched the contracts after we signed it! Now we are stuck with this company paying them each month a whole lot of money! If we brake the contract – we will owe them more money!
We would never recommend them to any one! This is a totally rip off company!
We tried to resolve the issue with their manager. But since he is just another ass, he won't do a thing for the clients they are robbing in the first place!
We did not check any information about Automotive Training Institute before we contacted them, but now we can see that there are many people already who have been scammed by them.
We were suppose to receive help in making our business grow and expand, but they are not fulfilling their part of the deal. They take money – yes, but no service was ever provided. Arguing with them is useless. I guess the only thing we can do is hire an attorney and get our money back somehow.
Don't deal with them and stay far far away!

Hidden conditions

Automotive Training Institute called to promote their business and got me to sign up for their booklets at home. That cost me $300 and then representative said that I had been selected for training and needed to talk with his superior and would have an interview over the phone. Then I got news that I am hired and I just need to pay another $300 for a week of training and it is guaranteed before I leave class I will have my money back in full from my first sell. Well of course there was no opportunity to sell something but they were supposed to continue to help. However, when I called they were rude and didn’t help me at all.
Over a period of several months I have bought few manuals and these manuals made the business sound very easy, when in fact, it was very difficult. I was contacted by their staff periodically to purchase additional programs or to buy a seat at seminars, which were supposed to teach me everything necessary to succeed. The courses and seminars were well run, informative, and enjoyable, but quite expensive and didn’t open any opportunities for me. To conclude I can say that every penny I paid was lost as all the materials and seminars didn’t take me to something.

There has been no improvement in business as promised

Automotive Training Institute said they could turn my business around in short order and pressured us into a horrible contract for 30 months. Sales worse since hiring them, customer count down 13% and sales down 21% from same period previous year. Went to a seminar and took the bait. They said bring a profit & loss statement which they feed into their program and said we were destined for bankruptcy and could turn it around in about 90 days. Well 7 months and $8374.70 later in my opinion Automotive Training Institute didn't deliver as promised. Did EVERYTHING and MORE they advised and results were worse than before I made the worse business decision in my 43 years of business ownership. On around March 2013, I asked Automotive Training Institute and BRYN Mawr Leasing to release us from the BAD contract we signed. In my opinion, any honest ethical business could see the horrible results and release us out of the contract since there has been no improvement in business as promised. These guy's are only interested in the 50,000.00 plus, not negotiable in their opinion. Buyers beware!
